Spilt Milk to open Saturday on Oak Park Avenue

Spilt Milk, a small bakery business run by sisters Molly and Meg Svec, will open its first storefront location in Oak Park’s Hemingway District this Saturday, Oct. 29.

The sisters have announced the official grand opening date after passing final building inspections yesterday.

“We’re thrilled to finally be opening our doors this weekend,” said Molly Svec. “The welcome we’ve received from the community has been so humbling, and we couldn’t have asked for a better weekend to open up.”

Svec is referring to the Annual Halloween Parade, which is set to take place on the same date. She encourages parade-goers to “stop by after [the parade] for a hot cup of coffee and slice of pie!”

Spilt Milk’s menu will include pies and pastries baked with seasonal ingredients sourced from local farms and purveyors including Kilgus Farmstead dairy, Farmer’s Hen House eggs, Nichols Farm produce, Slagel Family Farm meats, Lonesome Stone Mill flours, and Sunny Hill Honey, according to a press release.

The bakery is located at 103 S. Oak Park Avenue. Normal business hours are Tuesday through Friday 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Due to a private grand opening party Saturday evening, the bakery will only be open to the public from 8 a.m. to noon.
