Over the past two years, we have been ceaselessly striving to provide the OPRF community with a place to read news and feature stories that matter to you. As you might have noticed, Around Oak Park has been lacking activity in the past several weeks and I didn’t want to waste another moment without providing you with some information.
Our team has always been lean. In addition to writing and reporting, we are also full-time employees and students. Even though time has always been an obstacle, we have repeatedly found a way to make this website exist in harmony with life’s responsibilities, until recently. When I think back to how we have been able to make it work for so long, the only answer I can fathom is the love for what we have been doing here, and that is a feeling I wish to keep.
As a contributing writer to several news outlets over the past few years, nothing has brought me more joy in my career than being the Editor of this online publication. I have had the privilege to volunteer at Oak Park events as well as sit down with countless residents and business owners. This opportunity has led to the addition of many new friends in my life, both in the people I have interviewed as well as the contributing staff at AOP.
In 24 months, we have amassed a steady readership and a noteworthy social media presence that includes over 3,000 Facebook followers. We have created an Instagram presence where Oak Parkers send us their favorite photos so we can display them with the rest of the world. We have been able to do all of this because of you, the reader, and for that I sincerely thank you.
Thank you for reading. Thank you for sharing. Thank you for caring. But most of all, thank you for your patience. We will continue to post content and we’re hoping to do so on a more regular basis.
