Bite Nite & Foodie Fest will return once again in 2018, giving Oak Parkers the opportunity to sample local fare from participating restaurants.
Bite Nite, the official kickoff to Foodie Fest, will take place on Friday, Jan. 26 from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at The Nineteenth Century Club, 178 Forest Avenue, Oak Park. Attendees will be able to try small bites from 50 different local chefs, meet restaurant owners, learn recipes, and more.
“We feel very strongly that we’ve got a dining destination here in the Oak Park/River Forest/Forest Park area,” said Cathy Yen, Executive Director of the Oak Park-River Forest Chamber of Commerce. “The more we can get not just our locals but people outside the area to come and visit our restaurants, the better off we are.”
Foodie Fest, the official extension of Bite Nite, will run from Jan. 27 to Feb. 10. Modeled after various “restaurant week” promotions that take place throughout the country, Foodie Fest features prix fixe menus, each with three items or courses. These meals are priced at $10, $20 or $30 depending on the restaurant, according to the OPRF Chamber of Commerce.
January and February are the coldest months of the year, making it difficult to organize events such as Oaktoberfest or the Summer Concert Series we enjoy in Scoville Park. As one of the few major events taking place in the winter, Bite Nite & Foodie Fest can be a viable excuse to get out of the house, sample new foods, and learn something new.
