The metamorphosis of the store front at 1109 South Blvd. continues as Oak Park welcomes a taste of the big easy to the the Pleasant District.
The Dao Group plans to open Cajun Boil & Bar this spring. The 4,700 square foot space was the former home to Connolly’s Irish Pub who closed their doors in 2017. Before that, Schezwan Beijing commanded the space (this writer is still mourning their departure and savoring vague memories of their Vegetarian Delight).
This is Cajun Boil & Bar’s second location, with their first opening in October 2018 in Oak Brook.
From their website, “We always meet the highest standards of quality and freshness. Our very own creative seasoning combined with our traditional style of cooking offer our customers unique tasting and flavorful dishes that they come back to enjoy.”
Their menu features unique items crab legs, crawfish and a signature fried alligator. Add this to the list of places to brunch in Oak Park as Yelp cites a bottomless Bloody Mary available during brunch.
The Pleasant District is no stranger to Cajun style Cuisine with Poor Phil’s serving up similar cuisine and brews down the street. Perhaps we are on our way to a Little Louisiana District, folks.
