If the Village of Oak Park is notorious for anything it’s their stringent parking restrictions. However, for the Thanksgiving Holiday, while your kids are back from college and your parents come in from Florida, enjoy the lifted overnight parking ban from 2:30a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 26th until 2:30a.m., Monday, December 1st.
Also while you are out enjoying shopping on small business Saturday after Thanksgiving, all the way until December 25th, parking on Saturdays will be free for 2 hours. This includes any pay-by-space lot or a municipal garage in downtown Oak Park and in the vicinity of South Oak Park Avenue.
Lastly, the valet parking service offered in downtown Oak Park will expand to Saturdays after Thanksgiving. The service is located on Lake Street just east of Forest Avenue, set up by the Village to serve motorists who used the Lake & Forest Parking Garage that was demolished to make way for the new high rise development. Valet parking hours now will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday. The cost is $5 for up to three hours and $12 for three or more hours until closing.
