FUE, an upcoming indie rock band from DeKalb, IL., will play a free acoustic show tonight at 7:00PM at Val’s Halla Records. This is the first time the band has come to Oak Park as they are currently promoting their album, Gray Matters.
“We are really excited for the opportunity to play at Val’s Halla Records and share our new music,” said lead singer Joanna Rutzky. “Val has been supportive of indie music for a long time. She takes her music seriously and we are honored that to be able to play at her store.” The record store, which has been a part of the Oak Park community for over 40 years, is the only local retailer to carry FUE’s CDs, according to a press release from The Vasseur Group.
FUE toured nationally for the first time in 2012 as a part of The Extreme Tour. They were chosen to be a part of the tour in a pool of nearly 400 other bands and artists. FUE has also played at the Hard Rock Cafes in Chicago and Indianapolis, according to the press release.
“While the Hard Rocks and the big festivals are fun, we love playing these intimate in-store performances,” explains Rutzky. “These shows give us a chance to really interact with the audience and as musicians, that is truly satisfying. We love getting to know the people who come out to hear us on a more personal basis.”
Val’s Halla Records is located at 239 Harrison, Oak Park, IL, 60304.
