The American Society of Artists (ASOA) is preparing to host the 42nd Annual Oak Park Ave-Lake Arts & Crafts Show over two days: Sat., Aug. 20 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sun., Aug. 21 from noon to 5 p.m.
This free, family-friendly event will be held at Scoville Park, 800 W. Lake St., showcasing all types of artwork such as photography, paintings, pottery, hand-crafted jewelry, textiles, and glassworks, according to the ASOA.
Now in its fourth decade, the Oak Park Ave-Lake Arts & Crafts show has gained notoriety throughout the country as a premier opportunity for independent artists to get noticed. Dating back to spring 2016, interested artists were asked to submit four representations of their work to be considered. The ASOA only accepted the top candidates to be featured in the show.
In the 42 years of operating, this is the 37th time the ASOA has decided on Scoville Park for the venue. “Oak Park is the nurturing grounds for entire schools of Visual and Performing Arts, Architecture & Literature and has many tourist attractions,” according to the ASOA.
This is a rain or shine event and will go on as scheduled barring any major storms. For more information, visit the ASOA website.
