Summer might have taken its sweet time to arrive, but it’s here. It really is here!
Not only has the weather finally started to cooperate, the Oak Park Farmers’ Market will officially open for the season on Saturday, May 19 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Pilgrim Church Parking lot at 460 Lake Street.
2018 marks the 43rd consecutive year of the Oak Park Farmers’ Market, an eclectic gathering of locally grown produce, flowers, bedding plants, honey, cheese, frozen meat, bread, and doughnuts from Oak Park-area vendors. Cash is the preferred method of payment, but credit and debit are available depending on the booth.
The market will be open rain or shine each Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. through October. There will also be live bluegrass music to provide entertainment each week.
Organizers for the weekly event have outlined a few rules including no bicycles, pets, smoking, or soliciting on the grounds if you are not a local merchant with a registered booth.
The Village recommends parking on the nearby streets during market hours, or by using the parking garage at OPRF High School, which is free until 1 p.m. on market days. For fans of public transportation, the market grounds are located one block west of Ridgeland Avenue and two blocks from the Ridgeland Green Line CTA station.
