Police have been cracking down on drug-related crime recently which has contributed to three arrests within five days for drug possession and driving under the influence.

The arrestee was stopped by an officer on Interstate 290 near the exit ramp at Austin Blvd. After searching his car, the officer found bags of heroin. Guy was processed and held for bond hearings.

Chicago resident Mekyell Dean was arrested by an Oak Park police officer on Oct. 2 for driving under the influence of drugs. Dean was involved in a traffic accident on the 800 block of Madison and was taken into police custody. The accident occurred at roughly 1:39 p.m.

Police arrested an 18-year-old Oak Park resident for possession of drug paraphernalia on Oct. 4 at roughly 11:54 p.m. The officer pulled the teen over on the 200 block of Ridgeland for a traffic stop and further investigation revealed that he was in possession of cannabis.
