One of my favorite parts about being the Editor is the opportunity to play with different types of content and see which platforms offer the most engagement, an essential part of what we do here at AOP.
We launched this website in 2015 and along with it, our Facebook and Twitter accounts. We continue to see our readership interact on these two platforms, but Instagram is the one form of social media that has really taken off for us and it all started with this first post I shared in March of 2016 after snapping a simple photo with my phone:

I wanted to do something very Oak Park for our first post and what could be more Oak Park than Lake Theatre? Maybe Ernest Hemingway and 50 other things; don’t get cute. You understand my point.
Since then, we challenged you to tag us in all of your favorite pictures, tag everything related to the area with #aroundoakpark, and as a result, we have built a community that talks about anything and everything related to Oak Park.
Now, we want your help again so we can compile a list of Oak Park’s most Instagram-worthy locations, and share the best submissions we find in the new year. This can be the shopping districts, parks, residential areas, bars, restaurants, local landmarks, architecture, etc. Think anything and everything you love and find interesting about living here. In the end, we’ll have an all-star worthy list of the village’s best attractions and places to go. We’ll never be bored at home again!
From now through the end of 2018, tag all of your posts with #aroundoakpark for a chance to get featured on the list that will be published in the new year titled, “Oak Park’s Most Instagram-worthy Locations.” That’s all you have to do. Just include the tag and we will come find you. We can’t wait to see what you come up with.
