Oak Park’s Voter Registration Options

With Election Day a short four weeks away, now is the time to understand your registration options as an Oak Park voter.

Village residents who have yet to register but wish to do so online may visit the Illinois Online Voter Registration Application Website. In order to successfully register, applicants must have a valid Illinois driver’s license or state ID card. The deadline to submit an online application is Sun., Oct. 23.

For those who prefer to register in-person, today is the last day to do so. There are four locations in Oak Park to complete an application including Village Hall, 123 Madison St., and any one of the three Public Library locations. Village Hall is open until 5 p.m. tonight while the libraries will remain open until 9 p.m.

Upon successful registration, Oak Park residents will be able to vote beginning Mon., Oct. 24 at Village Hall and the polls will remain open until Election Day, Tues., Nov. 8.

Voters also have the option to “Vote By Mail” if they wish by visiting CountyClerk.com. However, this option requires an additional application that must be completed online. The deadline to submit a “Vote By Mail” application is Thurs., Nov. 3.

As a recap, here is a list of important dates to make your vote count in the 2016 Presidential Election:

  • Oct. 11. – In-person registration deadline for eligible suburban Cook County residents.
  • Oct. 23. – Online registration deadline.
  • Oct. 24 – Early voting begins at Village Hall and will remain open until Election Day.
  • Nov. 3. – “Vote By Mail” deadline for pre-existing registered voters.
  • Nov. 8. – Election Day.
