It looks like we are in for another blustery weekend of storms here in Oak Park. Stormy weather always makes me want to curl up on the couch with a hot cup of tea and a good book or craft project. These fun events around town just might entice me to leave the cozy indoors, though!

Oak Park Farmers’ Market
Saturday
7:00 AM – 1:00 PM (rain or shine!)
Pilgrim Congregational Church’s parking lot

A staple in the Summer and Fall, the market still has a lot of delicious produce and other goods to offer.  I can’t get enough of the fresh peaches and other stone fruits this time of year! Apples have also started to arrive. I highly recommend buying as much fruit as you can and turning them into cozy baked goods like peach cobbler and apple crisp.  Sharing is optional.

Oak Park’s Great Food Truck Rally
Sunday
4:00 – 8:00 PM (rain or shine!)
Pilgrim Congregational Church’s parking lot

The food truck rally will feature a wide variety of local food truck vendors. Some trucks, like Cupcakes for Courage, will be serving up sweet treats.  Others, like the Pierogi Wagon, will be offering savory snacks. Seating in the area will be limited so make sure to bring your own lawn chair or blanket and an umbrella just in case!

Herbs + Spices & Bulk Shopping 101
Saturday
1:00 – 2:30 PM
Oak Park Public Library

This free (indoor!) event at the library has been co-hosted by the Sugar Beet Food Co-op.  This is a great opportunity to learn about health and savings through Herbalism. They will also be teaching how to fully utilize bulk shopping to save! A DIY spice blend will be available to participants while supplies last.

Pineapple Dance Studio Open House
Sunday
9:00 AM – 2:00 PM

The Pineapple Dance Studio in Forest Park is hosting an open house on Sunday.  Stop into their studio to take one of their classes for free!  Zumba, Belly Dance, and Aerial Yoga are all on the schedule, along with a few other classes. The studio will also be offering special deals during the open house. Get your groove on and break a sweat indoors while you avoid the storms!
