Weekend Crime Report (Jan. 16-18, 2015)

Burglary

(Fri., Jan. 16) – Two male teens were spotted at a garage on the 700 block of South Taylor Street. They were dragging a bicycle out of the open garage but dropped it and fled the scene.

(Fri., Jan. 16) – Unknown offender(s) gained entry to an Oak Park residence on the 500 block of Harrison. They were granted access from a third-floor unlocked kitchen window accessible from the common area. Items removed include a MacBook Pro and U.S. coin collection.

(Fri., Jan. 16) – Unknown offender(s) gained entry to another residence on the 500 block of Harrison by coming through a third-floor kitchen window. Items removed include a Samsung flat screen television, H-P black laptop, MacBook Pro, Nokia camera, and Michael Kors watch.

Theft

(Sat., Jan. 17) – Aaron Topps, age 24, was arrested for retail thefts that occurred at the CVS Pharmacy and Walgreens on Madison. Topps is a Chicago resident.

(Sat., Jan. 17) – Calvin Jones, age 46, was arrested for the theft that occurred the 100 block of Madison on Jan. 14. Video surveillance showed that Jones removed the victim’s purse from a table. Jones is a Chicago resident.

(Sat., Jan. 17) – Jeremy Williams, age 25, was arrested for retail theft that occurred on Dec. 17, 2014 at the Cash America Pawn Shop on the 6300 block of North Avenue. Video surveillance showed Williams removing two electrical testers and leaving without paying. Williams is a Chicago resident.

Robbery

(Fri. Jan. 16) – Dominic Abiagom, age 24, was identified as one of two offenders who reportedly took a Forest Park resident’s mobile phone by force. The incident took place on the 200 block of Chicago Ave. Abiagom was identified while riding the Pace Bus on the 300 block of North Harlem.

Probation Violation

(Fri. Jan. 16) – Rickie Laughlin, age 27, was stopped for operating a mobile phone while driving. Further investigation revealed that an active warrant exists for Laughlin’s violation of probation for residential burglary.

Mob Action

(Fri., Jan 16) – Three juveniles and two adults (ages 18 & 19) were arrested and charged with mob action for their involvement in a fight on the 800 block of Lake Street. The three juveniles were processed and released to adults.

Domestic Battery

(Sat., Jan. 17) – Debra Thomas, age 30, was arrested on the 400 block of North Austin Avenue for punching a victim in the mouth with a closed fist.

(Sat., Jan. 17) – David Gray, age 46, was arrested for domestic battery which occurred on the 200 block of South Harlem. Gray is a Chicago resident.

(Sun., Jan. 18) – Kendrick Jones, age 23, was arrested for domestic battery and held for bond hearings. The crime was committed on the 300 block of Wisconsin. Jones is a resident of Maywood.

(Sun., Jan. 18) – Michael Toomey-Beckert, age 35, was arrested for domestic battery on the 800 block of South Lombard.

 

All data has been compiled from the Oak Park and River Forest police departments. Anyone named in this report has been charged with a crime(s) but cases are still pending.
