Oak Parker robbed by masked men on Lake Street

An Oak Park resident who was walking down the 900 block of Lake Street around 8 p.m. Monday was robbed at gunpoint by two masked men. One of the suspects displayed a handgun while the other demanded cash and belongings from the victim’s purse, according to police.

Police say that the men were driving an older-model black Oldsmobile sedan on the West side of Lake Street around 8:10 p.m. The victim gave up her purse, which contained credit cards, debit cards, a Samsung Note phone and IDs. The total estimated loss is valued at $1,416, according to the report.

The first suspect is described as a black male of unknown age, standing approximately 5’11” tall. He was last seen wearing a black ski mask, dark pants, and a dark hooded sweatshirt, according to the police report.

The second suspect is described as a black male of unknown age, standing roughly 5’5″ tall. He was last seen wearing a black ski mask, a dark hooded sweatshirt, and dark pants, according to the police report.

  1. Until the good guys become armed, the bad guys won’t fear robbing a community who is against carrying or having guns on themselves. We’re all easy targets and sitting ducks in Oak Park. It only takes one armed person to change the spectrum of our weak community. WAKE UP!

  2. University campuses have emergency kiosks with direct lines to the police. They cost $500, basically a concrete phone booth with a blue light. They are effective deterrents. The victim could have walked over, called the cops, and these bastards could have been arrested and thrown into vats of boiling oil.
