The Oak Park Farmer’s Market is hosting their second annual Pie Bake-Off Competition on Saturday, Sept. 1 this year.
What makes this Pie Bake-Off special is that the pies must feature ingredients sourced from the market itself. This local event showcases the best of the market, right down to the non-GMO and organic grains and flour provided for the pie crusts.
Pie entries will be judged on appearance, creative use of ingredients, and taste. Winners will receive a ribbon as well as a merchandise gift from the market. If you’d rather eat pie than bake it, you’re in luck! The judging will take place from 9:30 to 11 a.m. and the remaining pies will be available for guests to enjoy.
The Bake-Off is open to both amateur and professional bakers in the Oak Park area who are over the age of 16. Registration is free and will be open until Aug. 22, however, the Farmer’s Market is only accepting 15 entries this year and entries will be selected based on a lottery system.
