The Oak Park Farmers Market will officially enter its fourth decade on Saturday, May 23 at 7 a.m. in the Pilgrim Congregational Church parking lot, located at 460 Lake St., according to the Village.
Items for sale include locally grown produce, flowers, bedding plants, honey, cheese, frozen meat, bread, and doughnuts. Cash is the preferred method of payment, but credit and debit are available depending on the vendor.
The market will be open to the public each Saturday from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. from May 23 until Halloween weekend, according to the Village. There will also be live bluegrass music to set the mood and provide entertainment each week.
Bicycles, pets, smoking, and soliciting are not allowed at the market. The Village recommends parking on the nearby streets during market hours, or by using the parking garage at OPRF High School, which is free until 1 p.m. on market days. Many folks might wonder what will happen when they eventually demolish the garage for a new pool, but we will cross that bridge when we come to it. For now, enjoy the market and some warmer weather.
