Annual July 4th Parade to step off at 10 a.m.

The many dimensions of diversity in Oak Park will be on display when the 10th annual July 4th parade steps off at 10 a.m., Saturday from Longfellow Park at Ridgeland Avenue and Adams Street. The parade will march north on Ridgeland to Chicago Avenue. Among the nearly 50 groups participating will be social and special interest groups, community groups, athletic teams, politicians, businesses, service organizations, children’s groups, animal lovers with their pets and musical groups. The parade also will feature the award-winning Freedom Marching Band. The annual fireworks display is scheduled to begin at dusk in the football stadium of Oak Park and River Forest High School, near East Avenue and Lake Street. Parking restrictions eased over holiday weekend

Overnight on-street parking restrictions will not be enforced on most Oak Park residential streets over the July 4 holiday weekend. Overnight restrictions will be lifted at 2:30 a.m., Fri., July 3, and resume at 2:30 a.m., Mon., July 6. However, restrictions will remain in effect in overnight permit areas. All other parking regulations also remain in effect, including all daytime posted restrictions and regulations related to traffic and public safety.
