The District 97 Board of Education is expected to appoint Craig Iseli following the vacancy left behind after the tragic death of Peter Traczyk. The announcement will come at the board meeting on Tuesday, March 17, according to D97 President Bob Spatz.
Iseli will serve the remainder of Traczyk’s term, which will be roughly 50 days in length, according to Spatz.
“We had a number of outstanding candidates apply for the vacancy that was created by the loss of our dear friend and colleague Peter Traczyk,” said Spatz. “In the end, we concluded that Craig’s extensive knowledge and experience made him the ideal choice for the position. We look forward to working with him during the next 50 days on a variety of important activities that will help shape the future of our district.”
Iseli is an Executive Vice President at PVS Chemicals and a former member of District 97’s Finance Oversight and Review Committee for four years, two of which were spent as chair.
“As a District 97 parent and longtime Oak Park resident, I appreciate having access to great schools and understand the critical role they play in the success of our community,” said Iseli. “While my time on the board will be short, my hope is that my contributions will have a positive impact on the district and the thousands of students it serves. I also hope that, at least in some small way, I can honor Peter Traczyk’s proud legacy of public service.”
