Escape Factor Chicago Opens in Hemingway District

If you like solving puzzles and new experiences, you might want to check out Escape Factor Chicago, which just opened its doors in Oak Park’s Hemingway District.

Escape Factor Chicago provides a unique 60-minute experience that allows a group of participants to explore a room filled with puzzles, riddles, and cryptic messages. The goal is to have participants work together in order to solve all of the puzzles before time runs out, according to a press release from the Oak Park Development Corporation.

It is assumed that Escape Factor Chicago will be used primarily for private events such as team building, birthdays, and bachelor/bachelorette parties. Groups must book in advance, with a typical size being 10. Cost is $32 per person.

“When is the last time you’ve spent 60 minutes with your friends without the distraction of your electronic device?” said co-owner Jonathan Biag. “We are excited to provide such a fun family-friendly, one-of-a-kind experience in this community.”

The “Timekeeper’s Trap” escape room is the first to open at the Oak Park location but the co-owners are working to open a second escape room by autumn 2016. If they are successful, patrons will be leaving with their heads scratching twice as much given there is only a 20 percent success rate from those who have attempted “Timekeeper’s Trap.”

This group used teamwork to be able to solve the Timekeeper’s Trap in under an hour.

“The puzzles in the room are intended to be hard in order to encourage people to rely on logic and teamwork to get through them,” said co-owner Dexter Cura. “It’s quite interesting to see how our customers navigate the room when they are working against time and traditional reasoning.”

Escape Factor Chicago is located at 711 South Boulevard, Oak Park. Business hours are 3:30 to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
