Felony Frank’s, located at 6427 W. North Ave. in Oak Park, will host its grand opening this Sunday, April 19, from Noon to 8 p.m. The event will be in the style of an open house and include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, “Selfie Station,” multiple raffle drawings, a balloon artist, and more.

We caught up with Felony Frank’s Co-Owner, Deno Andrews, to hear more about the return of the beloved restaurant with a socially responsible concept. Here’s what Andrews had to say:

Around Oak Park:
What are the key menu items that people have to try?

Deno Andrews:
The staple of our menu is the Misdemeanor Wiener. Other very popular menu items include the Big House Beef, which is an Italian beef sandwich that is getting rave reviews. We also serve Parolish (Polish Sausage), Italian Job (Italian Sausage), Cell Mates (sausage and beef combo), Felony Fries, Greek Salad, Shakes, and Pop.

AOP:
Will there be any special prices or menu items for the Grand Opening?

Andrews:
Every order will receive a coupon sheet with valuable coupons for several menu items. Each child will also receive a small “Gummy Hot Dog” with every order.

AOP:
What made you decide on Oak Park for your new location?

Andrews:
I chose Oak Park for two reasons. I am an advocate for locally owned and operated companies. I have also been a resident of Oak Park for 44 years, and my family has been here since the 1950’s. Oak Park is a great community and I wanted our flagship store to be here.

AOP:
Your restaurant is all about second chances. Do you think it’s a good thing that the Chicago location didn’t pan out so you can give it another go in Oak Park?

Andrews:
Well, it’s not so good that the original restaurant didn’t work out because my family lost a lot of money in that process. However, I am delighted that the Oak Park location is our flagship because I have big plans for the brand long term. If my plans work out it will be very good for the village and our local economy.

AOP:
You’ve had a soft opening for a few weeks. How has the community responded so far?

Andrews:
The community here has been wonderfully supportive in the weeks since opening. I thought that people might try out Felony Frank’s because of our social mission, but I knew that people would return if our food was great. So we dedicated ourselves to making the finest quick service food possible and as a result we are building a following.
