The Oak Park Visitor’s Center has been featuring the work of local artists since the fall of 2017 in their program called Urban Local Made.
The artists that are currently featured at the visitor’s center create everything from screen prints to handcrafted leather goods. In their words, the program aims to showcase the entrepreneurial spirit of the innovative makers in the Chicago area, as well as inspire both Illinoisans and out-of-state visitors to support local businesses while discovering uniquely authentic products.
While the Urban Local Made program features works by artists from all over the Chicagoland area, a few of the artists are Oak Park residents. One of those residents is Marion Sirefman, who has lived in Oak Park since 1984. Sirefman’s art is primarily inspired by nature and takes on many different mediums including watercolor, acrylics, and collages.
Hannah Jennings, another talented Oak Park resident, is an illustrator and designer who is known for her intimate portraits of buildings that show more than just the structure. Along with creating her own art, Jennings also teaches design at Dominican University.
You can view these artist’s work and more at the Oak Park Visitor’s Center through the end of August. To read more about the creators who are featured, check out their profiles here.
