As the workweek dwindles and we get closer to the ultimate summer holiday, it’s time to talk July 4th parade. The annual July 4th parade featuring 75 groups begins at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 4 from Longfellow Park at Ridgeland Avenue and Adams Street. The parade marches north on Ridgeland to Augusta and ends at Whittier School. Festive floats, vintage cars and various police and fire trucks are typical at this event.
Weather permitting, a fireworks display usually begins at dusk in the football stadium of Oak Park and River Forest High School, near East Avenue and Lake Street. Neighboring Forest Park will also be putting on a show this year at the Park District of Forest Park, 4:00-9:00.
I know I’ll be channeling Kramer and eagerly awaiting the fireworks show. Enjoy, friends!
