A male home invader assaulted and robbed a woman in her residence on the 1100 block of South Lombard Avenue in Oak Park Wednesday evening around 5 p.m., according to the Oak Park Police Department.
The man confronted the woman near the back door of her house after she parked her vehicle in the garage. She said the man grabbed her from behind, demanded money and took cash from her purse and jewelry. He then scoured through multiple rooms of the house before fleeing on foot, according to a news release from the village.
The victim did not sustain any injuries, nor did she need to visit the hospital following the assault as determined by emergency responders who questioned her.
The estimated value of loss from the burglary has yet to be determined by police.
Police describe the man as African American in his 20s, with a medium complexion. He was wearing a black knit cap, black jacket, black pants and grey gloves.
