Join Oak Park fitness studios and gyms on May 22 to kick off the first ever OPRF fitness week. Between May 22-May 28, 16 local fitness gyms and studios, including The Barre Code, Orangetheory Fitness, and FFC, are inviting OPRF residents to come and get free workouts and get fit. Local restaurants and stores will also be hosting special events and providing coupons and discounts.
Created by Ali Haynes of The Barre Code, Anne Pezalla of Lively Athletics and Jenny Shepherd of Jenny Shepherd Public Relations (JSPR), OPRF Fitness Week is a collaboration between gyms, fitness studios, stores and restaurants to encourage residents to experience all the health and fitness options Oak Park and River Forest have to offer.
During the fitness week, 16 studios and gyms are offering their classes for free while eight local businesses like Red Hen Bakery, Sugar Beet Co-Op and Vitamin Shoppe will be providing coupons for a variety of discounts on products and services which in turn, will hopefully expand the businesses current core customer base
Haynes, Pezalla, and Shepherd created Fitness week in an effort to increase health and exercise in the community while also being able to support local businesses, boutique studios, and individual health and fitness trainers.
“Oak Park has one of the most well-rounded and diverse selections of fitness options, but many residents don’t know that these studios and gyms exist,” said The Barre Code owner, Ali Haynes.
Lively Athletics owner Anne Pezalla is looking forward to promoting local businesses.
“I’m excited to host a week of fun events and promotions for Fitness Week at Lively. It’s so great how many stores here have a health focus and I can’t wait for residents to check out a new store or revisit an old favorite,” said Pezalla. .
