Feed My Starving Children (FMSC), a nonprofit that intends to feed children in 70 countries throughout the world, is gathering local volunteers for a “Mobile Pack.” Volunteers throughout the community will assemble in Concordia University’s South Gym to pack 100,000 meals to send to children in need. FMSC is looking to gather around 500 volunteers by April 16.
FMSC provided 224 million meals to children in 2014, 63 million of those meals came from local Mobile Packs like the one being held at Concordia. Volunteers will pack meals specifically formulated for malnourished children, from there FMSC will ship those meals to their distributors. Roughly 97 percent of the food reaches its intended destination, and 92 percent of the funds raised by FMSC are spent directly on feeding starving children.
Volunteers and donors are still needed for the event. Event organizer Julie Denise says, “We are looking for volunteers who are ‘All In’ – willing to donate both their time and $50 towards the food they will pack. Some of our partners are incorporating ‘All In’ into their ministries.” If you’re interested in donating your time for this event, more information is available at FMSC’s website.
