A pedestrian was hospitalized Wednesday (March 2) afternoon after being struck by a car in what Oak Park police are calling a hit-and-run. Minutes after the incident, officers arrested the suspect and took the alleged offender into custody.
The Chicago Tribune reports: “The crash happened around 3:25 p.m. at the intersection of Lake Street and Austin Boulevard, according to Oak Park police Detective Sgt. Michael Lepczynski.”

Following the incident, the pedestrian was rushed to West Suburban Medical Center, 3 Erie St., Oak Park, roughly three blocks from the scene. It is understood that the person is conscious and no life-threatening injuries have been reported.
Police caught the suspect shortly after the crash after the car was “stopped,” according to Lepczynski. Oak Park Police are still investigating the case to learn more information about the incident.
