Oak Park Police Chief Anthony Ambrose is taking an extended leave of absence for personal reasons. Deputy LaDon Reynolds will serve as the Interim Chief of Police until further notice, according to Village Manager Cara Pavlicek.
“I support the Village Manager taking this action in keeping with routine policy and procedure when the Police Chief is unavailable for an extended time,” said Chief Ambrose.
Deputy Chief Reynolds has been employed by the Oak Park Police Department since 1994 and was recently promoted in September 2017. His credentials include a Master of Science degree in Education and Bachelor of Science degree in Administration of Justice from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, according to a news release from the village.
“Deputy Chief Reynolds has my full support and confidence,” said Chief Ambrose. “Knowing he is in charge will allow me to focus on personal matters that need my full attention. I can say without hesitation that the people of Oak Park will be in good hands during my absence.”
