This Weekend Around Oak Park


It feels good to fall asleep with the windows open once again. Glorious is the time of year when we can enjoy Mother Nature’s breeze while leaving the heat and air conditioning off. If you find yourself with a little more cash from low gas and electricity bills, maybe you can get out and about this weekend. Here’s a few things happening in the OPRF area Friday through Sunday. Grand Opening at Felony Frank’s on Sunday
Felony Frank’s is throwing a grand opening bash on Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. The village is proud to support this socially responsible business with great food. It’s located at 6427 W. North Avenue in Oak Park and you can read a Q&A we had with Co-Owner Deno Andrews here.

Oak Park Arts District’s Third Friday Gallery Walk
Events kick off at 6 p.m. and run until 10 p.m.
Why should the adults have all the Third Friday Fun? Taleblazers and Magical Minds Studio are teaming together to bring you Family Fun Night! Drop off your kids at Magical Minds Studio for an evening of stories and the arts while you go gallery hopping, shopping and dining. Drop off is between 6:30-9:30 p.m. The cost is $18/child for two hours. 343 Harrison St.

Beer, Burgers & Bands at Buzz Café
Enjoy live music and organic burgers all weekend at Buzz Café, located at 905 S. Lombard St. in Oak Park. Saturday will feature a bluegrass group called the Farmer’s Market Band.

Artists of Concordia Theater present “Monty Python’s Spamalot” at Madison Street Theatre
Performances take place on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and again on Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. You can purchase them here. Madison Street Theatre is located at 1010 Madison St. in Oak Park.

OPRF Community Health and Wellness Fair Sunday
The OPRF Chamber of Commerce will host a Community Health and Wellness Fair on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Ridgeland Common Recreation Complex, located at 415 Lake St. in Oak Park.
