The Marvelous Wonderettes (Preview Performances)

The musical comedy comes to Oak Park this weekend for its preview performances. The show includes popular hit songs from the 50’s and 60’s, and the setting is the Springfield High School senior prom. The show has been off-Broadway since 2008 and this is the first time it has come to town. Opening night takes place on Friday, January 23 @ 8PM.

Teen Open Mic Night

Young people are welcome to gather at the Oak Park Public Library to showcase their talents this Friday. Popular acts include poetry, singing, comedy, and dancing but all gifts are encouraged to be shared. Food and drinks will be provided.

OP-RF High School Faculty Art Reception
Location: Oak Park Public Library, Main Library, 834 Lake. Oak Park, IL. 60301
When: Friday, Jan. 16 all day

The art faculty of Oak Park-River Forest High School will showcase their work in an exhibit titled, “117 Years of Teaching Art.” Expect to see photography, paintings and unique mediums covering several subjects. The artists represented include Department Chair Melinda Novotny and teachers Sandy Campbell, Michelle Carrow, Mark Collins, Pennie Ebsen, and Tracy Van Duinen.

Best Foot Forward Saturday Fun Run
Location: Meeting at Panera Bread, 7349 Lake St., River Forest, IL. 60305
When: Saturday, Jan. 17 @ 7:30AM and 8:00AM (two groups)

Best Foot Forward Women’s Running Group will coordinate two running teams on Saturday morning. The 7:30AM crowd will run 6 miles and the 8AM runners will do 3 miles. For more information, visit

Donuts for Dads
Location: River Forest Public Library, 735 Lathrop Ave. River Forest, IL. 60305
When: Saturday, Jan. 17, 9:30AM-11:30AM

There will be crafts, books and board games for everyone to enjoy. Breakfast style foods will be provided by Blue Max Coffee. Starting at 10:30AM there will be stories read near the fireplace upstairs. All are welcome including parents, grandparents and caregivers.

“Climate Change is Simple” Movie (Shown Every Half Hour)

The Ted Talk video “Climate Change is Simple” by David Roberts will be shown every half hour between 9AM to 9PM and will be coordinated by The Green Team. All viewers are welcome to stay and share comments following each show.

Clarence Lindsey Art Exhibit

Artist Clarence Lindsay will showcase his work all weekend. Lindsey started working on art since he was five years-old in the Jeffries Project of Detroit.
