This Weekend Around Oak Park

November 16-18

It has been a tumultuous week around Oak Park with a lot of focus given to the hate crimes happening at OPRF High School. While the actions of the person or people at fault for the crimes brought up a lot of tough issues, it has been incredible to see the community come together to show their support for those who were targeted.  Protests, marches, and petitions were set in place and students from OPRF have taken the lead in speaking out against the hate. We can all learn from the children in our community.

Here is what’s happening around Oak Park this weekend:

European Winter Farmers Market
Do you already miss the Oak Park Farmers Market?  I sure do! Sugar Beet Co-Op is hosting an indoor farmers market from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday this weekend so we can all get our fix. Meet the farmers, find a new product to love, and start your Thanksgiving shopping!

Walk With A Doc
Join Dr. Carlos Reynes, Dr. Melinda Morales, and Dr. Ingrid Liu at Lindberg park on Saturday morning for a healthy stroll around the park.  All ages and fitness levels are welcome to this event! The walk starts at 9:00 a.m.

Family Cooking and Baking Workshop
The Park District of Oak Park is hosting a one day culinary workshop on Saturday featuring doughs including pizza, rolls, and bread.  This is a perfect class to take right before Thanksgiving! Impress your family and friends with your newfound baking skills. You can register for this event here.
