Three men were charged for firing a gun in Taylor Park (400 W. Division St., Oak Park) at 4:24 a.m. Wednesday. Officers responded and apprehended the suspects after hearing multiple gunshots, according to the Oak Park Police Department.
“While doing foot patrols in the area, (officers) heard what sounded like gunshots coming from the park,” Commander LaDon Reynolds of the Oak Park Police Department said in an interview with the Tribune. “Officers noticed three males in the park who began to run.”
Alexander Thomas was charged for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, mob action and possession of drug paraphernalia. Daunte S. Hall and Andre Lee were also charged with mob action, according to the Oak Park Police Department.
“After a brief foot chase, officers gave orders to Thomas to lay down on the ground,” Reynolds said. “(Thomas) then stated ‘The gun is under me’ and officers recovered a loaded 9mm Smith and Wesson from his waistband. The suspect then said, ‘All three of us fired the gun.’”
Nobody was injured as a result of the incident. Hall was released on bond; Thomas and Lee are still being processed for bond hearings, according to police.
