Three hospitalized after woman collides into funeral procession

A 48-year-old Chicago woman caused a two-car crash in Oak Park Oct. 19, after attempting to drive through a funeral procession, according to Oak Park police.

The two-car collision occurred just after noon Oct. 19, when the procession was headed south on Ridgeland Ave. The woman’s car struck one of the cars in the procession after the woman drove westbound through the intersection on Augustana St., sending both vehicles to the sidewalk, according to police.

Three people were hospitalized with minor injuries. Oak Park police Cmdr. LaDon Reynolds said the two people who were struck went to West Suburban Hospital. The woman who caused the collision was taken to Loyola University Medical Center, stated officer Reynolds.

The offender was cited for failure to yield and damage to village property, police said.
