Vantage Oak Park becomes tallest building in the suburbs

Oak Park city officials, crews and developers watched as the final beam was hoisted up, topping off the 21-story Vantage Oak Park building, signifying it as the tallest structure in the surrounding suburbs.

According to the Chicago Tribune, the 21-floor residential tower will house 270 rental apartments and it is expected to be complete and occupied by early 2016. The building is expected to house large-scale retail and commercial tenants in its 25,000 square feet of retail space on the first few floors. There will also be a five-story,  588-spot parking garage attached.

The village is expected to take control of its portion of the parking garage by this October, Village Manager Cara Pavlicek said. Once the village installs parking equipment, the garage should be expected to open before Thanksgiving.

“It’s a lot of coordination, but here we are and we’re ready for finishes and the next steps,” said Tye Baasch, Superintendent on-site.
