An Oak Park woman was pushed down and robbed Saturday afternoon on the 900 block of South Elmwood Avenue after being rear-ended by a white 2015 Acura occupied by four males in their late teens or early twenties.
After striking her grey 2013 Acura TSX from behind, two of the offenders walked over to the victim and demanded her to get out of the car. After exiting the car, she was forced to the ground by the two assailants and robbed of her purse which contained credit cards, an iPhone X, checks, and keys.
According to the police report, no weapons were used during the altercation. The estimated loss from the robbery and vehicular hijacking is estimated at $31,100.
The community has been actively looking to engage more with local law enforcement given the recent spike in crime, in particular, carjackings in Oak Park. As a result, the Oak Park Police Department created social media pages to better connect with citizens.
Anyone with more information about the identity of the four suspects involved in the carjacking is encouraged to contact the Oak Park Police Department at 708-386-3800 or to provide an anonymous tip at oakpark.com/crimetip.
