The body of 23-year-old Chicago native Christina Hill was found on Monday morning after she crashed her car into the Des Plaines River in River Forest late Sunday night, according to the Illinois State Police.

It appears as if her car went through the guard rail near the intersection of Thatcher and North before descending into the river although there are no witnesses to confirm, according to police.

When emergency responders first arrived on the scene Sunday evening, they used the license plate to identify Hill as the driver. However, it wasn’t until Monday morning when they finally discovered Hill’s body nearly 400 yards away from the accident scene, according to River Forest Fire Chief Jim Eggert.

The Cook County medical examiner has yet to determine the cause of death as of Monday evening, according to a report by the Pioneer Press. Furthermore, the Illinois State Police are investigating what might have caused the accident.
